Thelma Isabelle (McConnell) Southern

Thelma Isabelle Southern, also known as “Grandmother”, passed away at age 84. Born on August 26, 1936 to the late William Adrian McConnell and Thelma Lorenna Coffman McConnell. On Wednesday, June 2, 2021, Thelma passed away unexpectedly at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, WV.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin D. Southern; son, Richard K. Southern; daughter-in-law, Debra K. Southern; grandson, Kevin M. Southern, along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, parents, in-laws and all siblings.

Thelma is survived by her sons; William E. Southern (Becky Wick, girlfriend) and James M. Southern (Melissa L., wife).  Daughter, Lorenna E. Freeland.  Grandkids: Misti L. Southern Patterson (Matthew, husband), Niketta M. Wilmoth (Bennie L. Wilson, boyfriend), Nicholas M. Southern (Tabitha, wife), Emily A. Swiger, Zachary L. Southern and Rachel M. Southern (William Seigman, boyfriend).  Daughter-in-law, Penny B. Southern.  Brother-in-law, Bill Hebb.  As well as eight total great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Upon her wishes, Thelma will be cremated with no services.
