Rosa Marie (Abramovic) Rukavina

Rosa Marie Rukavina, 96, of Shinnston, passed away at Beulahland Assisted Living in Grafton WV on December 15, 2019.  She was born in Shinnston on June 16, 1923, the daughter of the late Michael Misko and Agnes (Reitkovich) Abramovic.

Rosa was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend.  She will be missed by the many people who had the honor of knowing Rosa.

In addition to her parents Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Rukavina; a daughter, Ann Sue Rukavina; and two sisters, Anna L. Simon and Mary E. Richardson.

Those left behind to cherish Rosa’s memory include her two sons, Thomas M. Rukavina and his wife, Gayle and David S. Rukavina and his wife, Linda, all of Hickory, PA; six grandchildren, Amy (Jason) Friend, Michelle (Bryan) Rukavina, Matthew (Adriana) Rukavina, Troy (Maureen) Thomas, Jill (Vic) Estes and Kate (Nate) Balzer; ten great-grandchildren, Isabel Rukavina, Angelo & Andrea Mitchell, Olivia, Hayden & Harper Thomas, Sean & Sydney Balzer, Ava Friend and Ashley Estes; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Mrs. Rukavina worked at Abe and Anna’s Restaurant in Shinnston for many years and enjoyed helping others.  She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and she was also an avid gardener.  She grew it, cooked it and sometimes even burned it!

There will be no public viewing for Mrs. Rukavina.  A Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 610 Pike Street; Shinnston, WV 26431 on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 12:00PM with Father Akila Rodrigo, T.O.R. as Celebrant.  Interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
