Ronald "Pete" Myers Obituary

Ronald “Pete” Edward Myers, age 83, of Salem passed away on July 3, 2019 at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center. He was born January 26, 1936 in Clarksburg, the son of the late Albert Lee and Nettie Agnes (Dent) Myers.

After graduating from High School, Pete enlisted in the United States Army.  He was stationed in Fort Rucker, Alabama from 1958-1960.  He was a Marksman and a Sharp Shooter.  Then from 1960-1964 he was in the Army Reserves.

After his military career Pete retired from Pennzoil with more than 30 years with the company. He then spent more than 20 years working for Sears in the janitorial department.

Pete is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Naomi Jean (Riddle) Myers; a daughter, Regina K. (Myers) Colton and her husband, Tracy of Shinnston; one grandson, Dalton Colton; one granddaughter, Hailey Colton; two sisters, Patty (Myers) Bennett and her late husband, Bobby Joe Bennett and Shirley Jean (Myers) Ashcraft and her husband, Randall; one brother-in-law, Frank Dennison; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Lou Myers and Marion Siders and her husband, Lawrence; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by two infant sons, Ronald and Harold Myers; one brother, Albert Myers, Jr.; and one sister, Judy (Myers) Dennison.

Pete enjoyed bus trips on Teddy’s Tours with the help of his special friends, Jim Boyles and Brad Simmons.  He also enjoyed bowling and golfing with their friends, Don and Alene Barker but his real passion in life was farming.

The family would also like to give a special thanks to Shirley Jean and Randall Ashcraft and all of the staff on the 6th floor of the VA Hospital, for the special care they have given Pete over the last two months.

The family will receive friends at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 South Pike Street, Shinnston, WV 26431, on Monday, July 8, 2019 from 3:00-8:00PM.  A funeral service will be held at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 South Pike Street, Shinnston, WV 26431, on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 11:00AM with Reverend Kenny Kendall officiating.  Interment will follow at West Virginia National Cemetery.   Military Honors will be accorded by the U.S. Army and the Harrison County Honor Guard.
