Robert Douglas Waddell

On Friday, April 15, 2022, Robert Douglas Waddell of Shinnston passed away unexpectedly.  He was the son of the late Melton and Joan Waddell.  He was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 24, 1970. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Karen Waddell; four sons:  Randy Johnson and wife Jenny of Shinnston, Samuel Massey and wife Davina of Idamay, Jeremy Massey and wife Claire of Shinnston and Justin Massey and fiancé Brittany Doc of Shinnston; one daughter, Jennifer Massey and fiancé Hunter Queen of Fairmont; 18 grandchildren:  Raymond and wife Sheyenne, Elijah, Sarah, Lillie and Ezra Johnson, Hailey Ball, Angel, Lydia, Anna Joy, Jayden, Rowan, Dawson and Ana Mariah Massey, Collin Golden, Hunter and Kyle Wasilewski and Bentley Dansereau; sister in law, Linda Lanham and husband Timmy of Shinnston; two brothers:  John Waddell and wife Donna and David Waddell and fiancé Laurie Crouch both of Gilmer County; one sister, Alycia Waddell of Virginia; brother in law, Eddie Wolfe of Gilmer County as well as many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Brent Waddell; brother in law, Fred Sandy; sister in law, Barbara Cook and his mother and father in law, Ellis and Bernadette Sandy.

Robert loved spending time with family and his best friend, Frank Rutherford, his cat “Daisy” and his dog “Gambit.”

Family and friends will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St, Shinnston on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 3:00pm until 7:00pm, time of service, with Pastor Samuel Massey officiating. 

In keeping with Robert’s wishes, he will be cremated after his service.
