Robert Edgell Freshour, Jr.

Robert Edgell Freshour, Jr., 78, of Lumberport, passed away at the VA Hospital on Monday, October 25, 2021.  He was born in Haywood, WV on May 6, 1943 to the late Robert and Mary Way Freshour.

Robert proudly served in the US Navy.  He retired after 34 years with Union Carbide.  He was a member of Jones Run Farm Club, Board of Directors of Southern States, WV Farm Bureau, Farm Credit Agency and Master Gardener’s.  He loved to fish, work in his garden and cats.  Hated to mow grass.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Lee Cottrell Freshour; his brothers: Paul Eugene Freshour, Dana Lynn Freshour, John Freshour, and Edda L. “Eddie” Freshour.

Robert is survived by two sons, Robert Freshour III and wife Doralynn of Lumberport and James Allen Freshour and wife Jennifer of Lumberport; two grandsons, Duncan Santiago of Shinnston and Gavin Gooden of Lumberport; two granddaughters, Lynnette Santiago of Lumberport and Joshlynn Gooden of Lumberport; special friends, Jason Poth of Bridgeport, Jason McMillion of Bridgeport, and Bill Snyder of Clarksburg.

The family would like to give thanks to Emily Cook for the love and care she showed Robert as well as the other nurses and staff.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the family.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 1, 2021 from 2:00 to 8:00pm.  Service will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 11:00am with Pastor Chad Hutson officiating, at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston, WV.  Interment will follow at Lumberport Lions Club Cemetery in Lumberport, WV.  Full military honors will be provided by the US Navy and Harrison County Honor Guard.

The family requests that masks be worn due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
