Phyllis Jean Simmons, age 79, of Bridgeport, formerly of Grafton, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013, at the Heritage, Bridgeport, WV. She was born in Grafton, February 3, 1934, a daughter of the late Ruben and Rosy Frances (Carver) Davis. Her husband Charles Simmons preceded her in death September 2, 1976.
Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting, and spending time with her family and her beloved dog Diamond. She was a Methodist by faith and last attended Linn Chapel Church.
Surviving are: three daughters, Loretta McNeamer and husband Oscar, of Clarksburg, Debra Spencer, of Clarksburg, and Patricia Dick and husband Larry, of Bridgeport; ten grandchildren, Charlotte Woodson, Michelle Hinchman, Charlie Leggett, Melissa Campbell, Richard Taylor, Margaret Taylor, Teresa Losh, Shelly Spencer, Johnny Dick, and Brooke Bice; eighteen great grandchildren; one sister, Margie Bauchnecht; one son -in- law, Bill Goldsborough; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by: one daughter, Sandra Goldsborough; one granddaughter, Beverly Leggett; one great granddaughter, Madison Jon Ramsey; two brothers, Phillip Roy "Bud" Davis and Marion Davis; one sister, Anna Louise Knight; and one son-in-law, Charles Spencer.
Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton, on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from 3-8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 11, 2013, at the funeral home. Pastor Mark Greaver officiating. Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery.
