Olive "Sue" Ruth Murray

Olive Ruth “Sue” Murray 93 of Shinnston passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at her residence. Olive was born January 24, 1927 in Roaring Springs, PA the daughter of the late John Lawrence George and Willamina (Shade) George.

In addition to her parents Olive was preceded in by her first husband Olen Bittinger, four sons Kenneth Bittinger, two infant sons and Nelson Bittinger; two brothers Lawrence George and Jay George, three sisters Margarette Johnson, Freda Branham, and Henrietta Earhart.

Olive is survived by her second husband Harold “Buck” Murray, 3 sons, Larry Bittinger and wife Diane of Shinnston, Joe Bittinger of Worthington, Gary Bittinger and wife Mary of Shinnston, One daughter Sharon Kaye Cribb of Averille Park, NY, 1 step son Olen Bittinger and wife Nancy of Ashland, OH , three step daughters Edith Cutting and husband Paul of Akron, OH, Lynn Lyon of Dallas,TX, Leann Murray of Fairmont, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Olive was a housewife and worked at Galis Electric, Mountaineer Electric and Joy Manufacturing. She loved painting, sewing, planting flowers, cooking, reading and spending time with her family.   Olive attended Otterbein United Methodist Church.

Family will receive friends at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 South Pike Street, Shinnston, Saturday, June 13, from 2-8 PM and Sunday June 14, from 10-Noon with proper distancing and face mask required.  Funeral service will be on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at 12 PM with Pastor Sam Cale IV officiating. Interment will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Enterprise.
