Okey Lee Shreves, 83 of Enterprise passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at his residence with his family by his side. Okey was born December 12, 1936 in Dola, WV to the late Okey Ward and Margaret Viola Barker.
Okey grew up in Dola, WV, he graduated from Lumberport High school in 1954 and then attended Salem College. He proudly served in the United States Army for 3 years. He later traveled to New Jersey where he met the love of his life Gail Peseux, they married on November 26, 1960. They had two children Lori Lee Shreves and Lee Ward Shreves. Okey retired from the Federal Aviation Association as Supervisor of Air Traffic Control for 31 years. After retirement Okey pursued a career in real estate working for Preferred Properties of Bridgeport, WV.
Okey is survived by his wife Gail, one son Lee Ward and wife Robin of Enterprise, two granddaughters Crissy Wood and Amber Shreves, two grandsons Terry Richards and Tyler Shreves, three great-granddaughters Aubrey and Maddie Wood, Gracie Metzar, two great-grandsons Gavin and Garrett Moody, Special Little Angel Faith Mitchell, two brothers Luther Rogers and wife Linda of Dola, Garry Shreves and wife Jerri of Missouri, two sisters Peggy Commarata of Ohio, Mary Gump and husband Jim of Nebraska, one sister in-law Ferol Poliny and husband Bill of Hummelstown, PA and several nieces and nephews.
Okey is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Lori Sendling, one sister Mildred Criss and husband Clarence, two brother in-laws Pete Commarata and Harry Peseux.
Okey was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Shinnston; He enjoyed working in The Lords Pantry and spending time with his family.
Per Okey's request he was to be cremated with a memorial service. Family will receive friends at the First United Methodist Church 64 Rebecca Street, Shinnston, WV on July 25, 2020 from 10 AM until time of Memorial Service at 11 AM with Pastor Cindy Boggs officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and the United States Army.
