Naomi Jean (Fink) Byrne

Naomi Jean Byrne, 94, of Enterprise, passed away on October 23,2025 at her residence.  She was born in Enterprise on July 31, 1931 to the late Lewis Roscoe Fink and Mavella Lee (Gould) Fink. 

Naomi worked as a waitress for Pops Restaurant in Viropa as well as waitressing jobs in Detroit and Washington, DC.  She also worked for Enterprise Grade School as a janitor, Rockwell’s Greenhouse and a truck hotel in Bridgeport.  She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Enterprise.  Naomi loved gardening, baking and watching her grandchildren. 

She is survived by three daughters:  Barbara Vance and husband Kent of Enterprise, Nancy Gray of MI, and Laura Templeton and husband Tim of Shinnston; three sons:  Larry Saurborn and wife Dawn of FL, Michael Duelley and wife Connie of Philippi and Bruce Byrne of Bensalem, PA; two stepsons: Barry Byrne and wife Judy of FL and Fred Merrill of Clarksburg; 22 grandchildren; several great and great great grandchildren and 8 step grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Naomi is preceded in death by her husband, Fred “Junior” Byrne; one daughter, Carolyn Sue O’Dell; one grandson, James O’Dell; three stepdaughters:  Beverly Byrne, Joyce Sturm and Becky Merrill; two sisters:  Bertha Propst and Wanda Lou Shingleton; two brothers:  Lewis Fink and Johnny Fink and stepmother, Nettie Pigott.

The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to her caretakers:  Michell Parsons, Sherri Kain, Alysha Hooper Hawkins, Tracy Davis and WVU Hospice.

Family and friends will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston, for visitation on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 11:00am with Pastor Robert Shingleton officiation.  Interment to follow to Enterprise I.O.O.F Cemetery.
