Lois D. (Mayfield) Lanham, 87, of Shinnston, passed away at UHC in Bridgeport on December 19, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born in Morgantown on March 24, 1932, the daughter of the late Carroll W. and Mable L. (Summers) Mayfield.
Lois was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a graduate of Terra Alta High School. Something she was proud of due to her being the only child who completed school in her family. Lois was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister and she will be missed by many.
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband of more than 40 years, James H. Lanham; two brothers, Carroll and Otis Mayfield; and three sisters, Judith Zvonaric, Deanna Haynes and Sara A. Spry.
Those left behind to cherish Lois’s memory include her five sons, James Lanham and his wife, Ruth of Shinnston, Randy Lanham and his wife, Jackie of Mannington, Eugene Lanham and his wife, Karen of Shinnston, Timmy Lanham and his wife, Linda of Shinnston and Dennis Lanham and his wife, Christie of Enterprise; three daughters, Kelley DelRio and her husband Larry and Connie Lanham all of Shinnston and Karen Hill of Fairmont; 19 grandchildren, Crystal, Jamie, Billy Jo, Bobby Jo, Brady, Jason L., Rusty, T.J., Chris, Adam, Matthew, Justin, Natasha, Trey, Colton, Travis, Shandon, Tyler and Jason; two brothers, DeWayne Mayfield of Gypsy and Ronald Mayfield of Meadowbrook; one sister, Shelby Jo McIntire of Bingamon; her dog, Sunshine; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Lois was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge, the American Legion Auxiliary and Women’s Wingo. She loved reading, working puzzles and talking to her “Sunshine”. Lois also loved to bake and in her earlier years she really enjoyed camping.
The family will receive friends at Dorsey Funeral Home 701 South Pike St., Shinnston, WV 26431, on Sunday, December 22, 2019, from 2:00-8:00PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 11:00AM with Pastor Ron Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
