Levi Russell Bender was the beloved son of Jennifer and Ronald Bender. He left us far to soon in a tragic car accident on his way to church. A deeply beloved brother and the youngest of seven children. Grandson to Russell and Doris Bender and Charlie and Rosalie Decker. He leaves behind a large family of people who love him, and if you were close to him and lucky enough, he may have remembered your name, so we won’t list them here.
Levi was a proud Boy Scout, reaching Life Scout rank and working towards Eagle Scout. He thoroughly enjoyed camping, especially hammock camping. He loved all things related to WWII, and could answer any and all questions about tanks that you might have had. He was known for his mechanical abilities and curiosity about how things worked. He loved to take things apart and didn’t always put them back together. He couldn’t spell to save his soul but loved to read a wide variety of topics.
Levi was studying to be an electrician at United Technical Center. He planned to enlist in the Army after high school graduation. He also studied Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with Ground Zero BJJ. During his High School career, he was involved in NJROTC. He also served as a sound technician at Simpson Creek Baptist Church. He also enjoyed his most recent job working at Mountain State Brewing. Levi was a hard worker and was always ready to lend a hand.
Levi gave the world’s best hugs and was a kindhearted and generous young man. He has a warm smile that warmed many hearts. His final act of generosity was to give others the chance of life with his strong healthy body. He will be forever cherished.
“I don’t suppose I’ll ever understand: why you, why me, why us? What I do know is that there is no place on this earth, there is no moment in this course of life, there is no crevice in my heart where you are not remembered.” Dr. Joanne Cacciatore
Levi’s service will be August 14th at Simpson Creek Baptist Church, 231 W Philadelphia Ave, Bridgeport, WV 26330. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. and the memorial service at 11. In lieu of flowers donations in Levi’s name to the Boy Scouts of America would be appreciated.
Seriously, please don’t send flowers.
