Lawrence "Butch" Herbert Simmons

Lawrence "Butch" Herbert Simmons, of Mt. Clare passed peacefully May 27, 2013 in his 65th year. He was born February 9, 1948 in Elkins; son of Herbert Giles Simmons and the late Vieva Maria Marteney Simmons. In addition to his father he is survived by his wife, Joyce Simmons; five children, David Simmons of Quiet Dell; Lawrence Simmons II (Angie) of Philippi; Christina Simmons (Joey) of Grafton; Charles Simmons of Quiet Dell; Dravin Richards of Clarksburg; eight grandchildren, Jordan; McKennah; Chelsea; AJ; Noah; Kierra; Tyson; Jaxxon; two brothers, Tom Simmons (Bunny) of Montrose; Bill Simmons (Sandy) of Elkins; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Dorsey Simmons. Lawrence was a United States Army Veteran and was a member of the DAV, and Vietnam Veterans Organization of West Virginia. A celebration of Life will be held at Davis Funeral Home in Clarksburg on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 3:00PM. Military rites will be conducted by the Harrison County Honor Guard and WV Army National Guard Honor Detail. Reception will follow directly after in the Davis Funeral Home reception Center.
