Helen E Chenoweth, 84 of Fairmont, passed away on July 3, 2025 at her residence on Thursday, July 3, 2025. She was born in Francis Mines, WV, on June 19, 1941 to Ray White and Edna “Ruinon” White.
Helen was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed gardening, canning, camping, embroidering, cooking, and riding in the side by side on long trail rides. She also enjoyed her children and grandchildren being around and enjoyed her birds and dogs.
Helen is survived by her nine children: Carolyn Martin and spouse Raymond of Worthington, Edna Pyles of Shinnston, Phyllis Shorter and spouse William of Morgantown, Betty Sanders and spouse Roger Allen of Fairmont, Helen Phillips and spouse Ronald of Idamay, Tulley Chenoweth, Robert Orval Chenoweth, William (Zeb) Chenoweth, and Dewayne Chenoweth, all of Fairmont; 20 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; one Brother, Emmit White and spouse Alice of Anmoore; one sister, Ina Moats of Fairchance, PA; one daughter-in-law, Misty Chenoweth of Metz; one son-in-law, Robert Littleton of Fairmont; one sister-in-law, Jean Chenoweth; one special niece, Joan Sutton
In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Grey J. Chenoweth; one son, Larry Chenoweth; one daughter, Nancy Chenoweth; three sisters and their spouses, Emma and Edgar Smithly, Viola and Charles Rush, and Elizabeth and Holmer Palmer; one brother, Philip White; one brother-in-law, Archie Moats; one son-in-law, Earl (Sam) Pyles; two granddaughters, Mary and Amanda Shorter; two great-grandchildren, Abagil Brown and Lucus Jackson Littleton; two brothers-in-law, William (Each) Chenoweth and George Chenoweth; two sisters-in-law, Betty and Robert Stahl and Judy Dewitt.
Family and friends will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston, on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 2:00pm–8:00pm and on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 11:00am until the time of the funeral service at 2:00pm with Pastor Douglas Wyatt officiating. Interment will follow at the Chenoweth Family Cemetery.
