Gene R. Chipps, 70, of Hepzibah, WV, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at his residence due to an extended illness. He was born on July 15, 1951 in Doddridge County to the late Jack Chipps and Ruth Ash Ware. He was raised by his late paternal grandparents, Virgil and Blanche Chipps.
Gene is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Charlene Chipps; mother-in-law, Delores J. White; son, Ricky Dennison and companion Heidi Roush of Clarksburg; daughters: Deanna Stire and husband Charles, of Hepzibah and Jennifer Akers and husband Steven of Indiana; Jimmie Patton and Husband James of Stonewood, Kandy Jeffries of Stonewood, Karen Nutter of Clarksburg, and Debbie Godfrey and husband Tim of Clarksburg: grandchildren; Steven Paugh, Sandi Dennison, Zach Cottrill, Makali, Raley and Pason Akers, Kesha and Bella Flint, James Jeffries, Shyann Crayton, Lisa Nix, Kimberly Wilson, Delbert and Loretta King, Billy Reed, and Matthew Nutter; siblings; Chuck Chipps of Wyoming, Jackie, Terry, Larry and Sandy Chipps of Indiana, Kathy Malarkey and Drema Daniels of Pennsylvania, Chrissie Hewitt of Enterprise, Anna Martin, Alvin and Chuck Ware, and Joyce Jones of Clarksburg; brothers-in-law; Steve and Brenda White, Rick and Darlene White: sisters-in-law; Donna and Ryan Martin and Kim White, as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and paternal grandparents, Gene is preceded in death by two sisters; Judy Robinson of Salem and Elaine Davis of Florida; father-in-law, John A. White and son-in-law, Mark Crayton.
Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Gene knew he didn’t know a stranger. He could make anyone laugh or smile. His smile lit up the room. Everyone loved being around him because of his joyful spirit.
He enjoyed being around family and friends. His grandchildren meant the world to him. He enjoyed spending time with each of them. His two fur babies, Noodles and Daisy, were everywhere he was.
The family would like to thank the WVU hospice nurse, Tessa (who he referred to as his doctor) and team Dana, Deb and Lenna. And to Dorsey Funeral Home for their outstanding support and kindness.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 1:00 to 4:00pm at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston, WV.
Per Gene’s request, cremation services will be provided.
