Frank Benjamin Long

Frank Benjamin Long, 84 of Lumberport, formerly of Shinnston, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at the United Hospital Center. He was born on May 1, 1935 in Fairmont, WV, the son of the late George and Nettie Blodgitt Long.

Frank worked as a coalminer for Consol for 40 years. He was a member of the House of Faith Church and loved to hear and speak the Gospel. Frank also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Those who are left behind to cherish Franks’s memory are his six sons, George Kocher and wife Juanita of Fairmont, Benjamin Long and wife Becky of Lumberport, Nathan Long of Mt. Olive, Wan Long and wife Tricha of Shinnston, Eric Long of New Martinsvillve and Myron Long and wife Mary of Clarksburg;; one daughter, Debra Downing of Youngstown, OH; one brother, Buck Long and wife Peggy of Meadowbrook; one sister, Mary Cartwright and husband Gene of Fairmont; 24 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Frank is preceded in death by his wife, Dottie June Heater Long of 52 years on November 23, 2016; one daughter, Lolita Belt; six brothers and three sisters.

The family will receive friends at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 South Pike Street, Shinnston, WV 26431, on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 2-8pm. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 11:00AM with Pastor Delores White officiating.  Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F Cemetery Enterprise.
