Earnest Lyvaughn Pennington, 94, of Hepzibah, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022 at his residence. He was born on January 1, 1928 in Viropa to the late Alvie Lestor Pennington and Pearl Ryan Pennington.
Earnest retired from the United States Air Force, obtaining the rank of Master Sargent. He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He had also worked for United Hospital Center. He enjoyed fishing and watching wrestling.
He is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Wanda June (Carr) Pennington; one daughter, Donna Revill of Hepzibah; three sons: Larry Pennington and wife Mary of Florida, Richard Pennington and wife Elizabeth of California and Thomas R. Pennington and wife Wendy of Pennsylvania; one sister, Carolyn Sue Carr and husband David of Clarksburg; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Charles Denver “Denny” McNemear; two brothers: Lawrence Pennington and Elden Ray Pennington; three sisters: Edith Burnett, Ina Grace Pennington and Owena “Penny” Shreves and two infant sisters.

Friends and family will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. Service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 11:00am with Pastor Todd Jarman and Pastor Gary Carr officiating. Interment to follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.
