Donald Paul Halpenny

Donald Paul Halpenny, 78 of Shinnston, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at United Hospital Center. Donald was born on July 18, 1941 in Wyatt, WV.

Donald loved to hunt and be outside. He loved cookouts and to spend time with his family. He also loved to run his dozer.

Donald is survived by one son, James “Jimmy” Halpenny and wife Sharon, Fairmont; six daughters, Ginger Whitecotton and Rhonda Barker and husband Mark, all of Worthington, Lisa Richards, husband Tim, and Beverly Halpenny, all of Shinnston, Mary Wright, Fairmont, Theresa Martin, Mannington, eighteen grandchildren, which includes Sandy and Andrew Halpenny; twenty-six great grandchildren, which includes his caregiver and great grandson, Jacob Halpenny; one brother, Herbert “Herbie” Buckhannon and wife Susan, Viropa; several nieces and nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by Herb Halpenny and wife Katie, whom raised Donald and he considered his parents; first wife, Karen Sue Halpenny; one sister, Mary Linda Simmons; three brothers, Sonny and John David Buckhannon and Herbert Junior Halpenny and wife Betty.

Family will receive friends at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 South Pike Street Shinnston, on Saturday May 23, 2020 from 2:00PM-8:00PM. A private service will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2020 with Pastor Robert Shingleton officiating. Interment will follow at Wyatt Cemetery. Online condolences can be made on Dorseyfuneralhomewv.com.
