Delmus Vinson Burge, 69, went to his heavenly home on February 12, 2018 after a valiant battle with a long illness. His firm faith in God and devotion to his family supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Delmus was born in Clarksburg, WV, on February 9, 1949 to the late Clarence and Clara Ash Burge, a WWII Army veteran and coal miner, and a homemaker respectively. He was naturally innovative and adept with tools his entire life having started at a young age working as a foreman for Carmet Tools in Shinnston, WV. He then spent many years as an electrician for the Harrison Power Station. His later years were spent utilizing his abilities as the owner of a construction company and maintenance service provider for commercial properties. Whatever work Delmus did, it could always be characterized by high quality and attention to detail.
Delmus was also an incredibly gifted musician, playing the guitar from the age of eight. His music, voice, and knowledge of the Bible were used in the service of the Lord in churches, nursing homes, gatherings of family and friends, or wherever he was led to serve.
Delmus married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Patti Johnson Burge on December 26, 1967. He and Patti raised three beautiful daughters who never questioned his love and devotion to them. His legacy to his children is an example of living to serve others, to be a friend to those from all walks of life, and to give your best in whatever you put your hands to do. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is with his Lord.
Delmus is survived by his wife, Patti; his daughters Sherri (Russ) Lichty, Lisa (Tom) Fast, and Roxanne (Eric) Snyder; his grandchildren Madison Fast and Eliot Snyder; and many beloved extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gary.
