David Don Davis

David Don Davis, 87, of Shinnston, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.  He was born on November 9, 1938, the son of the late Roy W. Davis and the late Ardith (Robinson) Davis.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary Davis, with whom he traveled over 13,000 miles and visited 49 states during their golden years.

David is survived by his four sons, Kenny and his companion Ladonna, Ronnie and his wife Tracy, Garry and his companion Kathy, and Larry and his companion Patty, all of Shinnston; eight grandchildren, Kayla Mullin and husband Richie, Kenny Davis and his wife Emily, Hannah Mills, Kristopher Davis and his husband John DaCosta, Allison Owen and her husband Michael, Monica Goodman, Jordan Davis, David Davis, and Haley Davis and her companion Aaron Lawson; 11 great-grandchildren:  Brody and Sadie Mullin, Everett Mills, Silas Fisher, Lora Grant, Lilah Junkins, Sophia Lynn Sidley, Alexandria Ann Taylor, Taisha and Trinity Gonzalez, and Emily Willis; and several nieces and nephews, including Diana VanBuren, who took care of him in his final days.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings Carl Kay and Jay William.

David served in the US Navy from 1955-1959.  He retired from Consol Robinson Run Mine in January 1999 after 30 years of work.  He enjoyed working outside, traveling in his RV, camping, and watching westerns.  He was an active member of the Shinnston Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in David’s honor to the National Parks Service to honor his love of travel, the outdoors, and his country.

Family and friends will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston, for visitation on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 11:00AM until time of service 2:00PM, with Pastor Fred Burton officiating.  In honoring David’s wishes, cremation services will be provided.
