Carroll Lee Smarr, Jr., 77, of Fairview passed away December 23, 2020 at Mon General Hospital. Born January 20, 1943 in Wooster, OH, he was the son of the late Carroll Lee Smarr Sr. and Elizabeth Francis Smarr Tilton.
Carroll was a retired coal miner. He enjoyed playing the guitar and woodworking. He played guitar in the gospel group The Masters Touch with his wife Jean at local nursing homes.
In addition to his wife, Alma Jean Smarr, he is survived by his two daughters, Kimberly Smarr (Boore) and fiancé Scott Ashworth of Fairview and Carole Jean (Jeannie) Smarr McMillen and husband Mike of Morgantown; son, Robert Scott Smarr and wife Kelly of Worthington; two grandsons, Michael Boore and Sammuel Ryan; three granddaughters, Elizabeth Campbell, Kendra Arnold, and Katlyn Ryan; two great grandsons, Dyson Boore and Braxton Fluharty; three great granddaughters, Lillian Boore, Lydia Campbell, and Gwyndolyn Arnold; brother, Robert Smarr and wife Sharon of Fostoria OH; sister, Helen Hermann of Newton Falls, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Carroll is preceded in death by son, Wilford Lee Smarr; brother, Edward Smarr; and foster father, George C. Shearer.
Private funeral services for immediate family will be held at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S Pike St, Shinnston, WV 26431, with Pastor Tim Sandy officiating. Interment will follow at Enterprise IOOF Cemetery Family requests that donations be made to the Comfort Fund at Mon Health Foundation, 1200 J.D.
