Bryan Richard “Jim” Davis, Sr., 88, of Oceana, WV, formerly of Shinnston, WV, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at home. He was the son of the late Alva and Lona Gregory Davis. Jim was born in Heaters, WV on December 30, 1932.
Jim graduated from Lumberport High School, class of 1950. He was a certified welder, electrician. He served in the US Navy in 1952.
Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia Mae (Hall) Davis. Three daughters: Gina Davis Tichnell and husband, Warren of Oceana, WV. Joyce Davis Stire of Shinnston, WV. Rachel Davis Mead and husband, Curtis, of Shinnston, WV. One son, Bryan Richard “Rick” Davis, Jr. and wife Dawn, of Orange Park, FL. Daughter-in-law, Darla Edgell Davis, of Jacksonville, FL. Two sisters: Georgia Davis Smith Hostetler of Charleston, SC and Brenda Davis Bracken of Forest City, NC. Nineteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by one son, James Eric Davis. Three brothers: Dwight Davis, Harold Davis, and Jerry Davis. One sister, Helen Davis Hollen.
Jim was a man of many hobbies and talents. He was a poet and storyteller. Enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Played horseshoes. Was a master carver and welder. He was a member of Bikers for Christ. After retiring, Jim was asked to create two separate coal miner metal statues. One is located at the Coal Country Miniature Golf Course, Fairmont, WV and the other at the Repair King in Shinnston, WV. He was also a talented musician. Enjoyed playing piano, guitar, and was master on the harmonica.
Jim was a member of Family Life Fellowship, Enterprise, WV. He loved the Lord first and spending time with his loving family and friends.
Jim will be missed by many.
Keeping with Jim’s wishes, he will be cremated.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 1pm at Family Life Fellowship in Enterprise, WV.
