Betty Helen (Lewis) Rinehart, 98, of Shinnston, WV, passed peacefully in her sleep, on Monday, March 9, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, and love. She was born August 17, 1927, at Riverside Monongalia County, WV, the daughter of the late Clarence Howard and Ina Fern (Vangilder) Lewis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Paul Rinehart (December 10, 2004); her infant daughter, Helen Marie Rinehart (February 1, 1957); her brother, Howard Ellis Lewis, and her sister Virginia Lee Lewis McClung Harris.
Betty is survived by her two sons, Phillip Rinehart of Fairmont, WV and his companion, Helen Baker of Clarksburg, WV; and George (Terry) Rinehart of Shinnston, WV. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Aaron Rinehart (Marissa); Brandon (Ashley) Rinehart; and Kelci (Jason) Wagner.
Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: River Rinehart; Allyson and Maxxton Wagner; and Nathaniel Rinehart.
After graduating from Bridgeport High School in 1945, Betty worked for two years at Westinghouse before dedicating her life to being a devoted homemaker, wife and mother.
A faithful Christian, Betty was former member of Christ Church United Methodist in Shinnston, WV, where she sang in the choir, and served as Membership chairman. She was an active in United Methodist Women and the Shinnston Area Council of Churches. She was also a member of Enterprise United Methodist Church. Betty had a deep love for genealogy and was a member of the Harrison County Genealogy Society.
Throughout her 98 years, Betty enjoyed traveling and cherished visits with her friends and family in Florida, South Dakota and New Mexico. Above all, she treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Tammy Tate, Kelly Cain, and Hospice, for the exceptional care, compassion, and dignity shown to her. Your kindness and support meant more than words can express.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to WVU Hospice.
Family and friends will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston, WV on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 for visitation from 5:00PM until 8:00PM and on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 from 10:00AM until time of service 11:00AM with Pastor Ron Johnson officiating. Interment to follow to Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
