Betty A. Pierce Southern, 89, of Clarksburg passed away on November 29, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Betty was born on July 14, 1931, in Burlington, WV, the daughter of the late Boyd Joseph and Lucy Blanch Myers Martin.
Betty worked for St. Vincent Palotti Hospital in Morgantown and Stone and Thomas in Bridgeport. She also volunteered at United Hospital Center and, most recently, Davis Funeral Home in Clarksburg. Betty was Methodist by faith. She enjoyed spending time with all of her beloved family and friends, especially friends from Davis Funeral Home and Calvery United Methodist Church. Betty also enjoyed reading her bible and regularly having coffee with her granddaughter, Sammy.
Betty is survived by two sons, Rogar Dale Pierce of Clarksburg and Robert “Bob” Summers and wife Cathy of Stonewood; one daughter, Patricia D. Goff, Bridgeport; four grandchildren, Freddie Goff, Bridgeport, Sabrina Pierce-Kesling and Chris, Clarksburg, Nicki Goff, Clarksburg, and Samantha “Sammy” Baddley and Scott, Salem; five great-grandchildren, Justin Dale Pierce, Jeremy, Mackenzie, and Jacob Baddley, and Christopher Kesling, Jr; one stepson, Larry Southern and wife Lizann; three special friends, Louie and Julie Male and Richard Sayers; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Ann Pierce; first husband of forty-five years, Dale Pierce; second husband of eleven years, Lester Southern; six brothers, John, Seymour, Frankie, Oliver, Raymond, and Arnold Martin; one-sister, Lena Rotruck; one son-in-law, Fred H. Goff, Jr; and her best friend, Ruby Bradford.
A private visitation and service will be held for family at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 South Pike Street Shinnston, WV on Thursday, December 3, 2020 with Pastor Brian Plum officiating.
