Betty Louise (McIntire) Hawkins

Betty Louise (McIntire) Hawkins (87) of Enterprise, WV passed away on January 4, 2019 at her residence with family by her side. Betty was born January 31, 1931 in Shinnston, WV the daughter of the late Lloyd “Howard” McIntire and Wanda W. Russell McIntire 

Betty was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother who always had a smile on her face and a kind word to say. She was a pure example of Jesus’s Love to everyone who was blessed to know her. She was a member of the Enterprise United Methodist Church where she was the pianist for 50 years. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was the epitome of a virtuous woman. 

 In addition to her parents Betty was preceded in death by her husband W. Calvin Hawkins (2001) her son John Allen Hawkins (2004), her grandson Quintin Alan Bolden (2011), and her sister Irene Johnson (2012), one sister-in law Gloria McIntire (2011) and one brother-in-law Richard Hawkins (2015).

 Those left behind to cherish Betty’s memory include her one son William Howard Hawkins and wife Joyce of Enterprise, WV, two daughters Callie Traugh and husband Michael of OH, Amy L. Nunn and husband Darhius of Fairmont, WV, ten grandchildren:, Josh Helmick, Candice Stewart and husband Kevin, Jenny Smallwood and husband Jeremy, Lauren Gaca and husband Tony, Tyler Hawkins and wife Morgan,  Jarin Hilson, Darhius Nunn Jr. Brendin Hawkins, Maggi Louk and Myla Hawkins, five great-grandchildren Izaiah and Elijah Bolden, Ezekiel and Luke Stewart and Gillian Gaca, two brothers Lloyd “Sonny” McIntire and wife Joan of Fairmont, WV, Stanley McIntire of Shinnston, WV, two sisters, Mary Ellen Hawkins of Teays Valley, WV, Ruth Ann Miller and husband Dwayne of MI, and several nieces and nephews.

 A special thanks to Heather Sorrow and Cassandra Whitecotton for taking such good care of her. Thank you to Tessa Yost from WVU Hospice. Betty lived many years with her grandson Josh Helmick who she loved dearly and he was such a blessing to her. Others who took amazing care of her were her granddaughter Jenny Smallwood and Betty’s children Callie, Howard and Amy. Mom chose all of us through adoption and the entire family is grateful to have been raised by her.   

 The family will receive friends at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 South Pike St., Shinnston, WV 26431, on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 2:00-8:00pm. Funeral service will be held at Enterprise United Methodist Church on Wednesday January 9, 2019 at 11:00am service with Pastor Brian Plum and Pastor Darren Powell officiating. Mrs. Hawkins will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Enterprise I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
