Rocco Romeo, Jr.

Rocco Romeo, Jr., age 89, of Shinnston passed away on May 13, 2019 at the VA Hospital. He was born January 27, 1930 in Shinnston, the son of the late Rocco Sr. and Julie (Nicollette) Romeo.

After graduating from Shinnston High School, Rocco married Adeline Burns on October 15, 1950.  He spent a few years as a United States Marine shortly after getting married.  Rocco then went on to become a carpenter by trade and worked in construction for most of his life.

Rocco is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Adeline (Burns) Romeo; one son, Scott Romeo of Mesa, AZ; two daughters, Fredda Rogers of Clarksburg and Peggy A. Romeo of Fort Myers, FL; one granddaughter, Beth Allevato of Clarksburg; two great-grandsons, Dale Metz and his wife, Alora and Jagger Allevato all of Clarksburg; one great-granddaughter, Madison Allevato of Clarksburg; one great great-grandson, Elijah Metz; one great great-granddaughter, Bradlee Metz; one brother, Jim Romeo and his wife, Jacklin of Bridgeport; one sister, Patricia Merico and her husband, Frank of Shinnston; one sister-in-law, Sandra Romeo of Charlotte, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Rocco was preceded in death by five brothers, Guy, Frank, John, Sam and Ronnie Romeo; two sisters, Mary Clifton and Coke Echard; two brothers-in-law, Noah Echard and Tom Clifton; two sisters-in-law, Ann and Vera Romeo; and one son-in-law, Jerry Rogers.

Rocco loved to go fishing and camping.  He really enjoyed being outdoors but what he loved most of all was spending time with his family.

At the family’s  request, private services will be held.
