Phyllis Jean Blake

Phyllis Jean Blake, age 80 of Wallace, West Virginia passed away on January 10, 2019 at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV.  She was the daughter of the late Jess Luther and Helen (Trader) Gump of Smithfield, WV.

Phyllis loved to watch Hallmark movies.  There wasn’t a moment that Phyllis did not have a Hallmark movie on.  She also loved flowers and cooking for her family.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her second husband who she married in 1982, Vaughn Blake and a sister, Sissy Gump.

Those left behind to cherish Phyllis’ memory include her first husband, Terrel Melott; two sons, Steve Melott and Jeffery Melott both of Wallace; one grandson, James Clayton Melott; five granddaughters, Maggie May Melott, Terra Gray Melott, Clairissa Melott, Heather Dawn Melott and Tenisha Renee Melott; four brothers, Jimmy Gump and his wife, Barbara of Wallace, Luther Gump and his wife, Sue of Mannington, Robert Gump of Wallace and Roger Gump of Wallace and his wife, Debbie of Indiana; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Reed of Wallace and Karen Sue Hall and her husband, Nelson of Castalian Springs, TN.

The family will receive friends at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 South Pike St., Shinnston, WV 26431, on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 from 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm with Reverend Cordell Deline officiating.   Interment will follow at Brown Cemetery in Wallace, WV.  Dorsey Funeral Home is honored to assist the Blake and Melott Family’s at this time.
