Pauline (Rutter) Reed

Pauline Reed (85) of Shinnston, WV, left this earthly world and went to be with the Lord and Savior on Tuesday April 24, 2018 surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter Catherine Waggy. Pauline was born February 28, 1933 in Tyler, County WV the daughter of the late Burton and Ellen Catherine (Watson) Rutter.

Pauline graduated from Shinnston High School in 1951 and worked at the Princess & Rice Theaters in Shinnston, WV, and a manager at the Dollar General and as a retail clerk at the A&P Store and G.C. Murphy.  She was a member of several organizations that included: The Charles Street Christian Church, The Shinnston Senior Citizens, the Shinnston Garden Club, The Shinnston Women’s Club, and The Christians Women’s Fellowship. She raised donations for the Shinnston Little League Teams, was a Parade Marshall of the Shinnston Christmas Parade and was inducted into the Shinnston Alumni Hall of Fame.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John Edward Reed, two sons: Randy Reed and William Howard Reed, four sisters: Ann Spadafore, Goldie Rutter, Inez Rutter and Audrey Rutter, four brothers: Woodrow Rutter, Howard Rutter, Darnell Rutter and Elwood Rutter.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter Cathy Waggy and husband Rick of Lumberport, WV, her grandchildren: Danielle Pierce, Racquel Thaxton and companion David, Caitlin Waggy, Zachary Martin and wife Marlyn, Justin Reed and companion Shannon, Andy Brougham and wife Ashley and Robby Waggy and wife Maddie, her great-grandchildren: Cyara, Aleasecia, Isabelle, Freya, Aisley, Cyten, Will “Little Zac” Timmy, Atlas and Ames, her aunt Wanda Pollard, nephews: Jimmy Spadafore  and wife Robbie, Woody Rutter and wife Shirley, nieces: Mary Ann Spadafore, Mary Margaret Spadafore, Sandy Evanto and husband Larry, Linda Isom and Joyce Lett, one brother-in-law Jim Reed and wife Koleta and many great-nephews and great-nieces.

 The family will receive friends at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 South Pike St., Shinnston, WV 26431, on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 2:00pm - 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at Dorsey Funeral Home on Saturday April 28, at 11:00am with Lynn White officiating.

Interment will be at Enterprise I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Enterprise, WV.

In lieu of flowers donations in Pauline’s name can be made to the Charles Street Christian Church at 605 Jackson Street, Shinnston, WV 26431.
