Larry Dale Matheny

Larry Dale Matheny (66) of Shinnston, WV passed away on July 7, 2018 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV, after a courageous battle with an extended illness. Larry was born January 2, 1952 in Clarksburg, WV the son of the late Kenneth Rice and Georgia Ilene Matheny.

Larry was a hardworking man that always provided for his family until his declining health kept him from it. He enjoyed spending time and making memories with his wife, children, grandchildren and his many friends.

In addition to his parents Larry was preceded in death his grandmother Helen Rice and brother Frankie Stillwell.

Those Larry leave behind to cherish his memory include: his loving wife of 48 years Regena Matheny, two sons Kenny Matheny and wife Tammy of Shinnston, WV, Michael Matheny, fiancée Georgia Quinn and children of Peora, WV, his daughter Cindy Cottrell and husband Donnie of Gyspy, WV, two grandsons Tyler Matheny and Jonathan Cottrell, granddaughter Shalon “Baby Doll” Matheny, his sister Helen Creak and husband Danny of Cunningham Run, and Linda Hardesty of Worthington, WV whom he was raised with and loved like a sister, several cousins, nephews and nieces, other extended family and numerous friends.   

A special thanks to Melissa Martin and the doctors and staff at Ruby Memorial for all they did and also the Harrison County EMS.

In accordance with Larry’s wishes cremation services will be provided and a celebration of his life will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
