Joyce Ellen (Nuzum) Ladanye

Joyce E. (Nuzum) Ladanye, 75, of Clarksburg, WV, went home to be with the Lord on, October 19, 2018 in Clarksburg, WV, surrounded by her family after losing her courageous battle with Alzheimer’s and kidney failure.  She was born in Akron, Ohio on June 20, 1943.  She moved to West Virginia as a child.  She was the daughter of the late Lester I. Nuzum and Margaret E. (Zirkle) Nuzum of Bridgeport, WV.

Joyce was a graduate of Shinnston High School, class of 1961.  She worked as a bookkeeper for many years with GC Murphy’s, Shinnston, WV; Bank of Shinnston, Shinnston, WV; Sears and Roebuck, Fairmont, WV; Wholesale Tire, Clarksburg, WV; and Steve’s Refrigeration, Bridgeport, WV.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother of four and great-grandmother of one.  After meeting her husband, Steve on a blind date, they were married August 30, 1962.  Joyce had a passion for baking during the holidays and sewing.  She went out of her way to make sure none of her family went without anything they wanted or needed.  Holidays brought her great pleasure!  Joyce was a true gift giver.  She was a Methodist by faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Steve A. Ladanye, who passed away October 10, 2017; her brother, Donald L. Nuzum and wife, Jeannie of Charleston, SC; one grandson, Jonathan S. Ladanye, Shinnston, WV; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hamilton and spouse, Russell and brother-in-law, Frank Ladanye of Lawton, OK.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include, son, Brian S. Ladanye and wife, Danita of Shinnston, WV; daughter, Kristine E. Valenti and husband, Carl of Bridgeport, WV; grandchildren, Elissa D. Boone and fiancé, Richard Stanley of Fairmont, WV, Brandon M. Ladanye and wife, Amanda of Nashville, TN and Rachel E. Ladanye of Shinnston, WV; great-grandson, Ryan A. Boone of Fairmont, WV; four sisters-in-law, Ann Cheuvront of Ravenna, OH, Mary E. Ladanye of Clarksburg, WV, Carolyn Ash and husband, Ed of Shinnston, WV and Carin Ladanye of Vacaville, CA; two of her dearest cousins and childhood friends, also known as, “Aunt Millies Three Musketeers”, Kay Pereda of Ashville, NC and Barbara Groce of Atlanta, GA.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.”

Family will receive friends on Monday, October 22, 2018, at Dorsey Funeral Home 701 S. Pike Street, Shinnston, WV, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral service on Tuesday October 23, 2018 at 11:00am with Dr. George Heitman, Pastor officiating. Entombment will follow at the Shinnston Memorial Mausoleum in Shinnston, WV.
