John White Obituary

John A. White, 84, of the community of Erie, WV passed away at his home on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 5:30PM surrounded by his family whom he adored.

John was born on January 28, 1935 in Erie, the son of the late Walter J. and MaryEllen (Clark) White.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Pastor Delores J. (Gower) White; two sons, Steve White and his wife, Brenda of Hepzibah and Rick White and his wife, Darlene of Erie; three daughters, Charlene Chipps and her husband, Gene of Hepzibah, Donna Martin and her husband, Ryan of Erie and Kim Batson and her husband, Ron of Worthington; twelve grandchildren, Suzie and Brandon Fox of Lebanon, OH, Missy and Josh Floquett of Hepzibah, Mandy and Jim Moore of Erie, April and Dustin Post of Hepzibah, Ricky and Barbie Dennison of Hepzibah, Deanna and Charles Stire of Hepzibah, Jennifer and Steve Akers of McKeesport, PA, Roger Quinn III of Clarksburg, Lauren and Jonathan Quinn of Erie, Ryan and Sarah Martin of Erie and Carder Batson of Worthington; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Sharon Moore and her husband, Jim of Lumberport; and one brother, David White and his wife, Sheila of Idamay.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his two brothers, Jim and Paul White; along with two infant children.

John was a graduate of Victory High School and the Devry Technical Institute.  Along with his wife, they owned and operated White’s TV Service for 54 years.  John was also a foreman of the Clarksburg Casket Company where he had the honor of painting caskets for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., President John F. Kennedy, the three member family of Joseph Yablonski for the Miners Union, along with the film producer for the movie, The Ten Commandments, Cecil B. DeMille.  John loved to read.  He was also an artist winning first place in an art competition for the state of West Virginia.

He was a faithful member of The House of Faith where his wife was the Pastor.  John loved the Lord, the love of his life, his wife and his family.  He was the Patriarch of the White family, a man of few words, full of wisdom and so much love.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to thank all of the Home Healthcare Providers, his physical therapist, his primary care physician, Dr. Kristian Morrison & staff, Dr. John Adeniyi and the WVU Hospice team, to the Jewel City hospitality committee for providing the meal and especially his granddaughters, Deanna and April.

The family will receive friends at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 South Pike Street, Shinnston, WV 26431, on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 from 2:00-8:00PM and again on Thursday from 9:00AM until the time of service at 11:00AM with Pastor Robert Shingleton officiating.  Interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
