David “Pee Wee” Roy Muniz, age 70, a resident of Spelter, WV, passed away from a heart related illness on August 3, 2019 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born November 2, 1948, in Clarksburg, WV, the son of the late Rogelio “Roy” and Nayomi Ruth (Davis) Muniz of Spelter.
Those left behind to cherish David’s memory were his wife, who he married on December 1, 1981, Rebecca Sue (Gatrell) Muniz; his three daughters, Aron Louise (Schweinebraten) Hollar and her husband, Brett Louis Hollar of Clarksburg, Farrah Jo Muniz of Atlanta, GA and Heather Davia Muniz of Shinnston; six grandchildren, Katelyn Sue Hollar, Ashley Nicole (Hollar) Kelly, and her husband Patrick Michael Thomas Kelly, Maddisyn Paige Hollar & Emily Marie Hollar, all of Clarksburg, Rheannon Ivy Freeman of Clarksburg and Andru Gage Helmick of Shinnston; one great-grandson, Emmett Robert Joseph Kelly; and David’s beloved, faithful friend, Bentley Muniz, his black Labrador Retriever.
David was a graduate of Victory High School. He then served as a sharpshooter and a mechanic in the United States Army and was a proud Vietnam War Veteran. David was employed by Stone Paving and worked for 33 years as an Asphalt Roller Operator. He was an avid archer and was even a member of an archery team and he was also a member of The Muzzleloaders Association. David loved boating, bow and rifle hunting, fishing, mechanics and riding motorcycles but most of all he loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Raymond and Mary Preto Muniz, Russell and Mary Craig Davis and his ex-wife, Bonnie Jo Muniz (Murphy).
Per David’s wishes there will not be a funeral service but there will be a Family Remembrance Celebration of his life and not his death.
