Betty Rae (Shaw) Lewis

Betty Rae Lewis (72) of Haywood, WV passed away on November 16, 2018 at her residence. Betty was born September 22, 1946 in Seminole, WV, the daughter of the late Leonard Franklin Sr. and Thelma Pauline (Nuzum) Shaw.

Betty was a CNA and retired from Heartland Nursing Home.  She also worked for Brockway Glass and Anchor Hocking.  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Betty enjoyed making large meals during the holiday season for her family.  She also loved working at the nursing home.

In addition to her parents Betty was preceded in death by her husband of more than 40 years, Kenneth John Lewis, Jr; a daughter, Leah Pauline Lewis; two brothers, Leonard Franklin Shaw, Jr. and George Lynn Shaw; and two sisters, Vera Lee Shaw and Geneva Ann Shaw Headley.

Those left behind to cherish Betty’s memory are her daughter, Crystal Lewis and companion, Chad Stout of Haywood, WV and her son, Aaron Hustead; three sons, Ron Lewis and wife, Sherry of Clarksburg, WV and their sons, Preston and Logan; John Lewis IV of Shinnston, WV and his three sons, Dylan, Caden and Johnny Lewis and Johnny’s companion, Brittany and one daughter, Heather Lewis; Tom Lewis and wife, Charlene of Wadesboro, NC and their daughter, Amber; two brothers, Roger Shaw and wife, Frances and Boyd Shaw all of Spelter; two sisters, Wanda Fuller and Freda Shingleton and husband, John all of Grafton and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 South Pike St., Shinnston, WV 26431, on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 2:00pm - 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at Dorsey Funeral Home on Wednesday November 21, 2018 at 11:00am with Chaplain Becky Ashcraft officiating. Interment will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Mount Clare, WV.
