Bernadette Sandy

Bernadette Sandy, 79, of Shinnston, passed away at her residence on December 14, 2018.  She was born in Marion County on August 27, 1939, the daughter of the late Norman and Grace (Sharp) Leemasters.  She married Ellis E. Sandy on June 27, 1956. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before his passing on May 13, 2007.

Bernadette was a homemaker and attended Jewel City Church.  She loved spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Bernadette was preceded in death by five brothers, Junior Sharp, Raymond Leemasters, Bernard Leemasters, Jim Leemasters and Alton Leemasters and three sisters, Betty Lowe, Charlene Reed and Susie Leemasters.

Those left behind to cherish Bernadette’s memory are, one son, Fred Sandy of Shinnston; three daughters, Barbara Cook of Fairmont, Linda Lanham and her husband, Timmy of Owings,  and Karen Waddell and her husband, Robert of Peoria; two sisters, Dorothy “Dottie” Scholz and Rose Tromp both of Ohio; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one great, great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a Graveside Service at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum, 1359 South Pike Street; Shinnston, WV on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 11:00 am with Pastor Robert Shingleton officiating.
